Pijn

PIJN formed in early 2016 as a two-piece recording unit, tracking experimental live demos which would eventually become the crux of the band’s debut EP ‘Floodlit’. The band first performed live in April that year with Three Trapped Tigers, before filling out their lineup and calendar supporting bands like Pelican, Bossk and Wren, along with short tours around the UK and Europe. Slowly adding members on stage and in the studio, PIJN finally released ‘Floodlit’ on January 27 2017 through Holy Roar Records, playing release shows with Mare and Oathbreaker, plus performances alongside Inter Arma, Esben and the Witch, Celeste and The Body. ‘Floodlit’ is now in its second pressing, supported by a month-long eastern European tour with Southern Lord Records’ Gust, including appearances at Fluff Fest and Tolmin Metal Days. 2017 was wrapped up with performances at the UK's finest post-everything festival, ArcTanGent, the farewell show for Brontide and supporting label-mates Employed To Serve on their headline tour, as well as the release on September 15 of 'Tanzaro House', a filmed live EP.

2018 saw a continuation of live performances across the UK and Europe whilst the band were completing their debut album, touring with label mates Conjurer and Slow Crush as well as festival performances at Portals, Tramlines and a collaborative set at ArcTanGent with Conjurer. On October 26th 2018 the album 'Loss' was released, again through Holy Roar Records, and was followed by a tour as main support to Vennart throughout the UK.

2019 saw Pijn hit the road in support of Loss, touring with Blanket, performing at Roadburn, Ieperfest, Strangeforms & ArcTanGent festival as well as two sellout headline shows in Manchester & London, performing the record in its entirety. With 2020's 'Loss Remixed & Reimagined' remix LP (with contributions from Her Name Is Calla & more) completing the cycle for the record, Pijn return to the studio for the rest of the year, working on their sophomore record which promises to be an altogether different beast...
